Derbyshire County Council will begin a sixteen-week project to improve Alfreton Bus Station from 1st July. During this time the bus station will be closed, with buses going from other places within the town. The work is part of the County Council’s £47 million Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP) programme.

The improvements will have a particular focus on improving accessibility, especially for those with limited or restricted mobility. The current layout will also be improved with changes to the kerbs, so that bus drivers are able to move the buses around more efficiently as they will be able to better access the boarding areas.

The bus station site will also have new shelters, seating and litter bins. The real time information will be updated, meaning passengers will be able to check when their next bus will arrive.

The surfacing of the ground within and immediately next to the Bus Station will also be fully replaced.

During the work, bus services will be relocated to existing and convenient temporary stops around the town centre. Please contact your operator to find out the active temporary stops for your service. Leaflets and posters are also up on site for passengers to look at.

Information regarding the trentbarton temporary stops is availale at: Temporary closure of Alfreton Bus Station - trent barton

The County Council owns Alfreton Bus Station, though it will work closely with both Amber Valley Borough Council and Alfreton Town Council. The council is also working alongside trentbarton, Stagecoach East Midlands, Derbyshire Community Transport and Hulleys of Baslow to ensure customer information is up to date and alternative stops are available.
