Buying your ticket is straightforward. You can get one from the driver when you hop on the bus, using cash or a contactless card. But, if you want to save a bit more, planning ahead can really pay off. Many bus companies have apps where you can buy your tickets in advance, and you might find deals a multi-journey deal.

We have introduced the ‘Derbyshire Wayfarer’ which offers almost unlimited travel on all the local bus services .

The Wayfarer ticket offers savings for adults, young people and groups:

• 1 day adult- £8.00
• 1 day concession/ b_line holder- £6.00
• 1 day group- £15.50
• 7 day adult- £21.00
• 7 day concession/ b_line holder- £16.00

£2 bus fare cap extended to 31 December 2024

A single bus journey anywhere costs no more than £2 any day on most routes across England.

Single bus fares (including child and student fares) on most bus services in Derbyshire will be capped at £2 until the end of December 2024.

This is part of the government's Help for Households campaign to help passengers save money by capping the cost of bus fares in England.

Passengers will pay a maximum of £2 on single fares when travelling. The fare cap only applies to single fares. The price of all other tickets remain unchanged.

If you're a student, a senior, or someone with certain disabilities, you might be eligible for discounted or even free travel. There are special bus passes available that can make getting around even more budget-friendly. Just check if you meet the criteria and find out how to apply.
